Kali in Sanskrit means Time Personified, the Kala Swaroopini. She is the Destroyer. Rightly so, as destruction is nothing but Creative Destruction. Only after the evils are destroyed can good rise. She is the destroyer of all that is base, of all that is evil, the destroyer of the base passions of Man. She is extolled by all poets, as they find in Her terrible aspect, seeds of Wisdom and Love !
